The dry cough after novel coronavirus infection is not necessarily a constant cough. After novel coronavirus infection forms novel pneumonia, patients mostly have a dry cough, which is more intense and has less sputum. However, for some patients with mild disease, they may only have a mild cough, which can be gradually relieved by using some antiviral drugs, and if the combined bacterial infection is treated symptomatically with anti-inflammatory drugs, the cough can also be effectively controlled by taking some oral cough suppressants. However, it is important to note that some patients with new pneumonia may not have a cough, which is usually seen in patients with mild disease, who may only have a low-grade fever and mild malaise without the manifestations of pneumonia, and should be differentiated accordingly. Therefore, the diagnosis or exclusion of novel coronavirus infection cannot be made on the basis of dry cough alone, and the clinical manifestations of the patient, as well as routine blood, chest CT, and viral nucleic acid testing, should be integrated to assist in diagnosis and treatment.
