Chance of cancerous gallbladder polyps larger than 1cm

If the diameter of gallbladder polyps is more than 1cm, single and with a wide base, the chance of malignant transformation is higher, but the exact chance of cancer is not yet fully understood.
A small number of patients with gallbladder polyps can become cancerous, and the risk factors include: single polyp with a diameter of more than 1 cm and a wide base; gradual increase in the size of the polyp; and the combination of gallbladder stones or thickening of the gallbladder wall, etc., especially in patients over 60 years of age, and the diameter of the stones is more than 2 cm. However, there are no studies to determine the specific chances of cancer.
If the patient does not have the above malignant factors and does not have the corresponding symptoms, surgery is not needed and regular medical checkups are recommended.
If there are malignant factors and clinical symptoms, surgery is needed to remove the gallbladder to avoid cancer. If you have any of the above factors or symptoms, please seek medical advice promptly.
