Herbal Remedies for Lower Limb Thrombosis

Lower limb thrombosis belongs to the category of femoral swelling in Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine can improve the symptoms, but whether it can eliminate the thrombus needs to be based on the specific severity of the disease, the patient’s physical condition, etc. In addition, it is recommended that a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, the effect is better. Commonly used Chinese herbal prescriptions are Si Miao Yong An Tang, Active Blood and Vein Tang, Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San and so on.
Patients with Damp-Heat Underflow (Dampness and heat evils invading the intestines, bladder, pubic area, lower limbs, etc.) syndrome show rapid onset of symptoms, with roughness and swelling of the affected limbs, heat, redness, pain, and restriction of movement. Treatment is with Si Miao Yong An Tang, including Jin Yin Hua, Xuan Shen, Angelica Sinensis, and Glycyrrhiza glabra.
Patients with Blood Vessel Stasis Evidence show swelling of the affected limb, purplish color of the skin, fixed pressure pain, and angry veins in the limb. Treatment is with Blood Vitalizing and Penetrating Vessel Soup, including Danshen, Safflower, Paeoniae Alba, Angelica sinensis, Mudanpi, Peach kernel, Astragalus Membranaceus, Chicken Blood Vine, and He Shouwu.
Patients with qi deficiency and dampness obstruction syndrome show that the affected limbs are swollen for a long time, become lighter in the morning and heavier in the evening, aggravated after activities, alleviated after resting and elevating the lower limbs, with tortuous veins, or accompanied by calf hyperpigmentation, stagnant dermatitis, eczema or ulcers, and tiredness and fatigue. Treatment with Ginseng and Atractylodes Macrocephalae, including white lentil, atractylodes, poria, licorice, platycodon, lotus seed, ginseng, radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Chinese yam, and Semen Coicis.
