What’s the difference between a blood clot and a brain attack?

Blood clots may lead to cerebral infarction, thus one is the cause and the other is the result.
A thrombus is an abnormal blood clot that forms in a circulating blood vessel. If a thrombus forms in a cerebral artery, resulting in ischemia, lack of oxygen and localized necrosis or softening of brain tissue, it may cause a cerebral infarction.
Blood clots may form not only in the arteries, but also in the veins and microvessels, which may cause coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and other diseases.
The causes of cerebral infarction are different, and thrombus is not the only cause, as cardiogenic embolism due to heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other causes of occlusion of small arteries.
