Taking acyclovir for plantar warts is not helpful.
Plantar warts are skin growths on the plantar areas of the feet caused by human papillomavirus infection. Trauma and friction are among the main triggers for the onset of the disease, which occurs especially when the immune system is low. The disease can also be transmitted through direct contact with the patient’s skin, such as infection from walking barefoot in swimming pools or public bathrooms.
Acyclovir medication is mainly used for diseases caused by herpes virus infections, which are antiviral medications but are not as effective against human papillomavirus.
It is recommended that patients with plantar warts should go to the dermatology department of the hospital, and need to be under the guidance of a professional doctor to handle and treat accordingly, and avoid blindly using drugs.
