Common comorbidities of silicosis

The common comorbidities of silicosis are mainly non-tuberculosis, lung infection, chronic bronchitis, slow-onset lung and spontaneous pneumothorax, as follows: First, tuberculosis: tuberculosis is the most common and serious complication of silicosis. As silicosis progresses, its combination rate and incidence gradually increase. When silicosis is combined with tuberculosis, these two diseases will promote each other and accelerate each other’s deterioration, often with fever and other toxic symptoms. Probing for tuberculosis bacteria is a good auxiliary test, and if the amount of excreted bacteria is high, it will help diagnose whether it is combined with tuberculosis. Second, lung infection: Lung infection is the most common complication of silicosis because silicosis itself is susceptible to infection, and lung infection accelerates the progression of silicosis and can induce respiratory failure, accelerating the deterioration of lung function and accelerating death, so patients with silicosis must actively prevent and treat respiratory infections. Third, chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Long-term inhalation of dust causes damage to the ciliated epithelium of the bronchus, pulmonary fibrosis, narrowing of the trachea, and poor airflow, which can easily lead to tracheal and bronchial secretions and sputum that cannot be easily discharged from silicosis patients, which can lead to infection and complications such as chronic bronchial disease, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and even pulmonary heart disease. Severe infections can also induce respiratory failure and right heart failure, and even death. Fourth, spontaneous pneumothorax: Most often seen in patients with silicosis complicated by emphysema and pulmonary aspergillosis, especially in patients with advanced silicosis, and often occurs when the pressure in the chest cavity increases due to lung infection, violent coughing, forceful defecation or lifting heavy objects. The most common symptom is the sudden onset of dyspnea with chest pain, which means that the dyspnea suddenly becomes worse than before and there is chest pain.
