The causes of diabetes include genetics, dietary factors, obesity, and autoimmune system defects.
1. Heredity: Genetic studies have shown that the incidence of diabetes in people with a family history of diabetes is higher than that in people without a family history of diabetes.
2. Dietary factors: Generally with the improvement of living standard, long-term intake of excessive sugar or energy will increase the load on the pancreatic islets and further diabetes.
3. Obesity: usually patients with abdominal obesity have a relatively high chance of developing diabetes, and most of them are accompanied by hyperinsulinemia, which can easily cause insulin resistance, resulting in hyperglycemia and triggering diabetes.
4. Autoimmune system defects: Under the combined effect of environmental and genetic factors, the immune system attacks the insulin-producing islet cells, i.e. autoimmunity, leading to damage of pancreatic islet β-cells, and ultimately leading to reduced or lack of insulin secretion, which in turn leads to diabetes mellitus.
Diabetic patients should be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
