A posterior uterus with an anterior placenta is normal. It does not affect the development of the fetus, nor does it interfere with delivery, preterm labor or miscarriage. Normally, the placenta is attached to the posterior, anterior or lateral wall of the uterine body in women. The difference between the anterior and posterior placenta is the different position in the uterus. Both the anterior and posterior placenta are normal, but the posterior placenta is generally safer and less prone to miscarriage, while if the anterior placenta is closer to the cervical opening, it will easily cause miscarriage or premature delivery.
