How to detect amblyopia early

How can amblyopia be detected early? The key to treating children with amblyopia is how to be able to detect it early. We know that only early detection makes early treatment possible, and only then can we achieve a short course of treatment with better results in a shorter period of time. Early detection of amblyopia in children is a common concern for parents and ophthalmologists. 2 years old or younger is a critical period of visual development, but children during this period do not know how to check their visual acuity, which makes early detection of amblyopia very difficult. In order to detect amblyopia early, parents should pay close attention to the child’s abnormal position, nystagmus, and skewed posture when looking at things. If any of these conditions are present, an ophthalmologist should be sought promptly. Thorough questioning and examination, careful examination of the refractive interstitial and fundus of the eye of the toddler for obvious organic lesions, careful examination of the nature of the gaze of the toddler, such as the discovery of paracentral gaze should be considered amblyopia, to check the eye position and eye movements, dilated pupils if necessary to check the refraction and other conditions. Through careful observation by parents and careful examination by ophthalmologists, most amblyopic children can be detected early; visual electrophysiological examination can be performed if necessary, and it is a very important tool for early detection of amblyopia.
