Children with these signs, beware of amblyopia!

The symptoms of amblyopia in children are similar to those of myopia and farsightedness and are not easily detected. So, how can parents detect amblyopia in their children at an early stage? What are the abnormal manifestations of amblyopia in children? 1, the child has strabismus should be alert to amblyopia: If you find that when the child looks directly in front of something, the position of the two eyes is not symmetrical, that is, one eye is in the center, the other eye position is skewed, it means that the child may have strabismus, then you should take the child to the hospital, and check whether the child has secondary amblyopia. Because children with strabismus cannot see at the same time, they often look at objects with one eye, and over time, amblyopia will develop in the eye that is skewed. 2, children love to look at things close, squint or tilt the head, check vision as soon as possible: refractive amblyopia and refractive amblyopia are difficult to detect because the child is young and will not describe what he sees. However, it is not untraceable, when a child has better vision in one eye than the other, or both eyes have refractive error, careful parents can find that the child especially like to look at things very close, always squinting to see, feel very hard to see things, and some children will look at things with a tilted head, these phenomena suggest that the child may have low vision problems, be highly alert to amblyopia, go to the hospital as soon as possible for examination. 3, teach your child to look at the visual acuity table, visual acuity below the normal value to promptly seek medical advice: parents are advised to teach their children to look at the visual acuity table, generally about 3 years old after a simple visual acuity teaching recognition, the majority of children will recognize the visual acuity table. Parents can buy a standard vision chart, hang it on a wall 5 meters away, pay attention to sufficient light, and let the child identify it regularly to check the visual acuity. For children in kindergarten, the school will also have regular vision tests. It is important to note that the eyes must be covered separately to check, and try not to let the child look at both eyes at the same time to prevent amblyopia in one eye from being missed. It is best to repeatedly and carefully check several times, if the vision of one eye is repeatedly lower than the normal value for the same age group, you should take your child to the hospital for further examination. 4, infants and toddlers cover one eye after crying, tearing the cover, beware of amblyopia: infants and toddlers can not describe and can not cooperate with the vision examination, then you can do the cover test, to understand the vision of both eyes in general. Parents can intentionally cover one eye and let the child see with one eye. If the child is quiet after the covering, but cries and fusses or tears the covering when the other eye is covered, it means that the child does not want the parents to cover the eye with good vision, suggesting that the vision of the uncovered eye is very poor and should be checked at the hospital as soon as possible to take the necessary treatment. After all this, the early detection of amblyopia, the most important thing is to rely on parents’ careful observation and regular vision checkups, if you find that your child has the above-mentioned performance in life, you should be alert and go to the hospital for examination in a timely manner; of course, it is also recommended that parents give their children regular vision checkups, don’t wait until after school checkups to find out, delaying the treatment of amblyopia.
