How long does bupivacaine last?

  A dab of bupivacaine will last for about an hour.  Bupivacaine is an anesthetic drug mainly used for keratoscopy, removal and suturing of corneal foreign bodies, IOP determination or for epidural block, subarachnoid space block, nerve conduction block and mucosal surface anesthesia. The effect starts 5-10 minutes after administration and the pain will be significantly reduced or painless when doing the procedure. As mentioned above, bupivacaine has a shorter maintenance time, and if necessary, lidocaine gel can also be used for better results and longer maintenance time.
