  Erysipelas, also known as infantile roseola, is an acute rash infection commonly seen in infants and young children caused by human herpes virus types 6 and 7. The clinical features are high fever for 3 to 4 days, followed by a sudden reduction in fever and rash, and a rapid recovery.  The main manifestations of the infection are within 2 years of age, especially within 1 year of age. The rash first appears on the trunk and then rapidly spreads to the neck, upper extremities, face and lower extremities. The rash lasts 24-48h and fades quickly, without pigmentation or peeling.
