The vagina is similar to the throat in that normal flora, conditionally pathogenic bacteria and beneficial bacilli are present. When resistance decreases and we get a cold, we can also get vaginitis. Vaginitis is similar to a cold in that it is self-limiting. If you have a cold and don’t take any medication, you will be fine in a week, and so will vaginitis. But if you have a bad cold with severe symptoms, if you don’t take medicine, it can worsen into pneumonia, which can kill you. The same goes for severe vaginitis. The actual fact is that you can find out if you have any recurrence of the disease by going to the hospital for a gynecological examination every three months.
