Symptoms of colitis: ① massive blood in the stool: refers to a large amount of intestinal bleeding in a short period of time, accompanied by increased pulse rate and decreased blood pressure, requiring blood transfusion therapy.
② Intestinal stenosis: It is usually clinically asymptomatic, and can cause intestinal obstruction in severe cases. In the presence of intestinal stenosis in this disease, we should be alert to tumors.
③Intestinal perforation: The application of corticosteroids is considered a risk factor for intestinal perforation.
④Toxic dilatation: This is a serious complication of the disease, which mostly occurs in people with total colitis, and the mortality rate can be as high as 44%, which is easily complicated by intestinal perforation.
⑤ Colon cancer: cancer occurs in about 5% of cases.
⑥Diarrhea: due to inflammatory stimulation, the degree of severity varies, diarrhea is the most important symptom of the disease. In mild cases, it occurs 3-4 times a day in soft stools or paste-like stools, which may be mixed with mucus and pus and blood; in severe cases, it occurs dozens of times or alternately with constipation.
(7) Abdominal pain: Mild patients have no abdominal pain or only abdominal discomfort. Generally, there is mild to moderate abdominal pain, which is paroxysmal pain in the left lower abdomen, and can be set up and the whole abdomen with the pattern of abdominal pain – stool – relief after stool.
Symptoms of colon cancer: Early symptoms: At the earliest stage, there may be bloating, discomfort and indigestion-like symptoms, followed by changes in bowel habits, such as increased frequency of stool, diarrhea or constipation, and abdominal pain before stool. Later on, mucus stool or mucopurulent blood stool may appear.
Moderate symptoms: Due to blood loss from tumor ulceration and toxin absorption, patients often have anemia, low fever, weakness, emaciation, edema and other manifestations, among which anemia and emaciation are especially important.
Intestinal obstruction manifestations: incomplete or complete low-level intestinal obstruction symptoms, such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain (distension or colic), constipation or stool closure. Physical examination shows abdominal bulge, intestinal pattern, localized pressure pain, and hyperactive bowel sounds can be heard.
Abdominal mass: It is a mass of tumor body or infiltrated with omentum and surrounding tissues, hard, irregular in shape, some can have certain mobility with intestinal canal.
Late manifestation: there are signs of liver metastasis such as jaundice, ascites, edema, and cachexia, anterior rectal concave mass, supraclavicular lymph node enlargement and other manifestations of distant tumor spread and metastasis.
