Post-operative considerations for colorectal cancer!

There are many rectal cancer patients who do not know what matters should be noted after surgery, we will make a detailed introduction for you, as follows: 1.After surgery, we should actively cooperate with medical personnel, keep a happy mood, psychological balance, and establish confidence to overcome the disease, especially patients with artificial anus should be brave to accept the fact and master the management of new excretory paths, and keep the skin around the artificial anus clean and dry. 2, the diet should be high protein, low fat, high calorie, easy to digest food, and according to the nature of the stool, the number of times, the amount of additions and subtractions. 3.Cultivate the habit of regular defecation and insist on manual anal dilatation with fingers to prevent stenosis. 4.Review every 2-3 months, every 6 months in the second year, and every year in the third year until the end of life. 5.Adhere to the completion of each course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy and other consolidation treatments to prevent recurrence. Within 90 days after surgery, food types should be as rich and diversified as possible, coarse and fine, with reasonable and tasty cooking methods, full of color and flavor, especially to ensure balanced intake of nutrients, and try to stay away from foods that are difficult to digest and irritating, such as chili peppers, raw garlic, mustard, and excessively hard foods (walnuts, melons, peanuts, apricot flakes, etc.). For patients who have had an enterostomy, more or less psychological pressure, with spiritual encouragement, it is recommended to eat less and more meals. Some patients are worried about defecation and choose to eat less or even not to eat, and they still eat liquid food three or four months after the operation, which is a lasting situation and will lead to weight loss, physical decline and no physical recovery. Three months after the operation, as the abdominal organs are fully recovered, you can be like a normal person: “eat what you want, eat what you want”! Of course, don’t eat a lot of food, especially processed meat, bacon, sausage, and so on. The colon is the place to excrete feces. After colorectal cancer surgery, patients’ stool habits may be completely changed as a result, but as long as they are normal, there is nothing to worry about. If you often have diarrhea, in terms of diet, it is advisable to have low-fiber, low-fat, lactose-free meals based on boiling and steaming such as refined rice, refined noodles, lean pork, etc. You can choose yam, barley, cardamom, and avoid foods rich in fat, as well as fried, nutty and high-fiber vegetables. In case of frequent constipation, it is advisable to replace fine foods with coarse foods, eat more vegetables and fruits with skin, and take auxiliary medicines such as lactulose if necessary.
