About keratomileusis (OK lenses)

1.Is there any solution for my child who is now myopic? A: During the examination, if the progressive development of myopia is found, some measures can be taken to reduce or control the development of myopia according to the advice of the optometrist. Orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses) and rigid corneal contact lenses (RGPCL) are effective means to control myopia development. 2.What is OK lens? A: The full name of “O.K” is “Orthokeratology”, and the Chinese term is keratoplasty, OK lenses are keratoplasty lenses. It is a programmed process of gradually deforming the cornea to a more rational shape, which is not strictly speaking a new technology, but an old technology with new flowers. 3, how can keratoplasty correct and control myopia? A: The use of highly permeable materials designed and manufactured into a geometric shape and the human eye corneal front surface form of special rigid contact lenses (generally known as shaping lenses, Ortho-K CL), using different ways to wear on the surface of the eye, produce a slight pressure, slowly change the shape of the cornea, to promote the central optical area of the cornea flattened, thereby reducing myopia and astigmatism, and effective correction of myopia and control It is also effective in correcting myopia and controlling its rapid progression. The birth of keratoconus brings new hope for young myopia patients, but it must be strictly fitted in medical units. 4. A: Keratomileusis has passed clinical studies at five universities in the U.S. (University of Houston College of Optometry, University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, University of California, Berkeley College of Optometry, Oregon Pacific University College of Optometry, Indiana University) as well as FDA certification that O.K CL is safe and effective in treating myopia. Keratomileusis is a reversible process that does not cause irreversible shape changes to the cornea. Regular review and complete inspection equipment ensure that the whole treatment process goes smoothly, and the supervision and guidance of professional ophthalmologists ensure its safety 5. Can keratoplasty completely cure myopia? A: Corneal plastic lenses are effective in controlling myopia development, but they cannot cure myopia. Clinical results show that most patients wear lenses 1 year after the patient’s eye axis length (an important factor in the development of myopia) the vast majority of no growth, myopia rarely increased, in contrast, ordinary wearing frame glasses and ordinary soft contact lenses but found no control role 6, how to wear keratomileusis? A: There are two ways to wear them, day or night. Professor Xie Peiying, a well-known expert in China, is the principle that patients with myopia of more than 475 degrees are recommended to wear them on a daily basis, and patients within 450 degrees can wear them at night or on a daily basis. Patients who have been wearing glasses for more than three years with low degrees are recommended to wear them mainly on a daily basis. Therefore, the statement that OK lenses are equal to night wear lenses is wrong, should be appropriate for each person, weighing the use of 7. A: Keratoplasty is a feasible non-surgical correction method to obtain clear naked eye vision. Because of its non-surgical and efficacy, it has been widely used in clinical practice, and there are more than 200,000 wearers in China. 8.How many years can a pair of OK lenses be used? A: The material used in OK lenses is highly permeable rigid contact lens material, the service life of this material is about one and a half to two years. In practice, we can see that some lenses can be used for about a year to appear lens deformation, surface scratches, a large amount of sediment, while the effectiveness of the decline, if not timely replacement of lenses, I’m afraid it will bring harm. It is unrealistic to say that the lenses can be used for 3-5 years, and it is most reasonable to replace the lenses in 1-2 years according to the situation. 9. What is the approximate cost of a pair of keratoplasty lenses? A: The price of a pair of lenses is 3~8,000, depending on the degree of myopia, lens brand, material and design, the price varies. 10, for children with myopia, is it better to wear frame glasses or OK lenses? A: Frame glasses can improve the corrected vision, no control of the development of the degree role, OK mirror can not only improve vision, and can control the development of myopia, short-term efficacy is significant, scientific standard application can make some myopia patients in a relatively short period of time to reduce part of the myopia degree, significantly improve visual acuity, control the development of myopia. At present, in the absence of more effective methods to prevent and control the development of myopia in youth, keratoplasty is a practical, non-surgical correction method to obtain clear naked eye vision.
