Does it hurt to grind your teeth?

Grinding teeth in sleep is generally not painful; while grinding teeth in dental management i.e. whether it is painful or not when the hard tissues of the teeth need to be abraded due to treatment is related to the patient’s specific condition. 1. Teeth grinding in sleep is usually painless. If teeth grinding is caused by psychological behavior, it is recommended that it be cured by eliminating tension and anxiety through psychotherapy. 2. In the treatment of dentistry, when grinding dental tissue, if only part of the enamel is ground, due to underdeveloped nerve fibers and less distribution, basically no pain. If the enamel dentin boundary exists at the end of the expanded nerve endings, contact with this area will produce sharp irritating pain. So teeth grinding is not necessarily painful or painless, depending on the depth of grinding and the proximity of the nerve. In summary, if the patient is suffering from an oral disease that requires teeth grinding, it is recommended that he or she relaxes and cooperates positively with the treatment.
