The best way to prevent periodontal disease is to maintain good oral hygiene, especially periodontal hygiene. What we can do is to brush our teeth and clean our mouth well, brushing is the most common and effective way to clean our mouth. We recommend brushing after every meal, which means brushing at least 3 times a day for 3 minutes each time with the correct posture. This is the best way to remove tartar and plaque from the mouth. For the gaps between teeth, we can use dental floss or gap brushes to clean the adjacent gaps of teeth to avoid periodontal problems due to food embedment. Finally, it is recommended to visit a professional dentist for a full mouth scaling treatment every 6 months to 12 months. This is what we usually call supragingival scaling, which can remove stubborn plaque and calculus from the periodontium to achieve a healthier periodontium.
