How to have a proper maternity checkup?

I often see women with comorbidities in the ward and ask them: Have you had your regular maternity checkups? A: Obstetric checkups were done. Q: How many times did you have a checkup? A: I had three ultrasounds. Q: What other tests have been done. A: No, I didn’t know there were other tests. Many people think that a few ultrasounds during pregnancy is a checkup. They don’t pay attention to maternity checkups and think there’s nothing to check, so when they come to the hospital with serious complications, both adults and children will be in danger, and it will be tricky for doctors to deal with them at that time. This is why it is so important to strengthen maternity checkups. The following are the arrangements for regular maternity check-ups: 1. Early pregnancy check-ups should be done for those who have had their periods for more than 40 days and further ultrasound examinations should be done to rule out ectopic pregnancy and determine the gestational week. Report detailed medical history, past menstruation and birth history. 2.Basic blood pressure, liver and kidney function, blood and urine routine, and blood type should be measured during early pregnancy. If possible, check the four eugenics items. Folic acid supplementation and abstinence from sexual intercourse. 3. Down’s syndrome screening will be performed from 11 to 14 weeks. 4.Obstetrical examination once a month before 28 weeks, once every half month from 28 to 36 weeks, and once a week after 36 weeks. If you have high-risk factors, follow the doctor’s instructions to increase the number of check-ups. (Checkups include: measuring blood pressure, weighing, listening to fetal heartbeat, measuring uterine height and abdominal circumference, and checking fetal position. (Provide guidance on diet and calcium and iron supplementation.) (5) Ultrasound screening for fetal anomalies around 20-24 weeks, and repeat around 30-32 weeks. 6.50g glucose screening will be performed at 24-26 weeks. 7.Fetal heartbeat electronic monitoring will be performed regularly every week after 36 weeks. The above is for reference only, because the equipment and conditions of each hospital are different, and the specific conditions of each mother are also different. The above is only a list of the most basic items in the maternity examination.
