Is 38 degrees 5 a high fever?

38.5℃ is a moderate fever, not a high fever. High fever generally refers to a body temperature greater than 39.1℃, when the cause should be clarified first, while taking ibuprofen or anal plug fever suppositories to lower the temperature. Clinically, the body temperature does not exceed 38.5℃, usually do not give drug intervention to lower the temperature treatment, usually using physical cooling or drinking more water to control the body temperature, only when the body temperature is higher than 38.5℃ and comorbidities, will give drugs to lower the temperature as appropriate. Patients with a body temperature of 38.5℃ must be actively treated for the primary cause of the fever, which is usually caused by bacterial, viral, mycoplasma, chlamydia and other infections, and can be tested for blood tests to find the site of infection and the nature of the infection, while anti-inflammatory drugs or antiviral drugs are used for treatment according to the laboratory results. If you have a fever of 38.5℃ combined with headache, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, difficulty in breathing and other symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time to improve the relevant tests, identify the cause and treat the symptoms. Although a temperature of 38.5℃ is not considered a high fever, it should be combined with the patient’s overall condition for a comprehensive evaluation and active treatment to avoid aggravation of the condition.
