The decompensated stage of cirrhosis is a more general term, and there are still finer divisions when it comes to decompensated stage, and it is not possible to generalize the mortality rate. The more detailed division method is to use the Child-Pugh classification, and the decompensated stage corresponds to the general B and C grades. For grade B, the mortality rate can reach 20% in one year and 40% in two years, while grade C is the more severe decompensated stage, where the mortality rate can reach 55% in one year and 65% in two years. With good treatment, the mortality rate can be reduced. If transplantation is required at the end stage, the mortality rate is 10% at one year and 20% at five years after transplantation, and the quality of life can be greatly improved.
