When to repair a nasal deformity associated with cleft lip and palate

Cleft lip requires sequential treatment. So when should a patient with cleft lip have his nose repaired? Because so many patients with cleft lip have an accompanying nasal deformity.

The time to repair the nose is usually after our puberty, when the physical development is basically completed and when we are mentally mature. It is usually better to have the surgery when you are 13 or 14 years old. In general, this kind of surgery is accompanied by the collapse of the upper jaw and the dysplasia. Discontinuity of the alveolar ridge, inconsistency of the nasal bones, deviation of the nasal septum, and a large nasal head. There are also cases of tilted nose and skyward nose. Therefore, during the surgery, I took the rib cartilage rhinoplasty approach. The first one is rhinoplasty, the second one is nasal lengthening, the third one is strengthening the nasal septum, the fourth one is the adjustment of the nasal wing size and nostril size, and the reconstruction of the nasal threshold at the base of the nose. The reconstruction of these two sides is often difficult. Another point is that the bone grafting of the entire nasal base is a very complicated process. Therefore, it is important to choose a regular hospital and doctor for the surgery.

But although the surgery is complicated and long, the result is really obvious.
