Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often referred to as “chronic lung disease and emphysema”. It is a difficult disease, once suffered, most of the repeated offenders, repeated treatment, and ultimately may be life-threatening. In the prevention of slow obstructive pulmonary disease, self-care is emphasized. Through functional exercise and diet and living conditioning, we can bring into play the maximum respiratory potential, improve and enhance lung function, improve the immunity of the body and control the disease. First, do functional exercise. Functional exercise focuses on strengthening the lung function of the respiratory system. The first is to learn to cough, which is the most effective means to expel phlegm. Put the two arms flexed on both sides, the lower part of the arm inwardly pressed, while the abdominal muscles are contracted with force, the trunk is slightly inclined forward, deep inhalation and then hold the breath for a moment, and then cough with force, so that it is easy to remove the sputum out of the mouth. Next is to practice breathing, there are lip contraction breathing method, abdominal breathing method and lower rib breathing method. (Practices such as breathing training) Second, loud singing and recitation. When people sing or recite loudly, the pectoral and abdominal muscles can be rhythmically expanded and contracted, increasing the range of motion of the diaphragm, increasing lung capacity and enhancing lung function. Thirdly, the WHO Rehabilitation Resource Center of the Chinese Society of Rehabilitation Medicine also recommends doing daily breathing exercises for slow obstructive pulmonary disease to increase respiratory function and improve exercise endurance.
