What tests should be done when thyroid cancer is suspected?

Thyroid nodules are a multi-morbidity and should be examined regularly. If thyroid cancer is suspected, or if the nodule is malignant, further examination should be performed. ①Ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland, with its low price, no radiation and simple operation, is a more commonly used clinical examination method, but it does not distinguish whether the mass is benign or malignant, and should be taken more seriously if the nodule has obvious blood flow. (2) Thyroid nuclear scan can determine the functional status of the mass, most functional masses are benign and 10% of non-functional masses are malignant; (3) To confirm the diagnosis of thyroid cancer, fine needle aspiration or surgical excision is required to take tissue for pathological examination.
