The incidence of duodenal diverticula increases with age and is less common under the age of 30 and more common in people over 50. In addition, there is a high incidence in people with congenital defects in the local intestinal wall musculature of the duodenum, and those with inflammatory bowel conditions such as colitis. The disease and its associated diseases interact with each other, with biliary tract disease being the most prevalent, and therefore also highly prevalent in this group.
