Vertigo is one of the common clinical symptoms and can be seen in various diseases in Western medicine, such as otologic vertigo, cerebral vertigo and vertigo caused by other reasons. According to the theory of Chinese medicine, vertigo is mostly caused by the liver. It is called “vertigo” when the dizziness or blurred vision is caused by wind, stasis, phlegm, or deficiency, and when one feels that one’s own or external scenery is rotating and one is unsteady in standing. In the Han Dynasty, Zhang Zhongjing formulated the corresponding treatment methods and prescriptions in the Treatise on Typhoid and the Essentials of the Golden Horoscope. His Xiao Chai Hu Tang, Da Cheng Qi Tang, Zhen Wu Tang, Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang, Xiao Han Xia Tang and Ze Di Tang laid the foundation for the treatment of dizziness in later generations. After Neijian and Zhang Zhongjing, medical practitioners in Sui, Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and modern times have continued to summarize and enrich the evidence and treatment of dizziness. Using the theory of Chinese medicine to treat dizziness with dialectical evidence, we have compiled some experiences, which are introduced as follows: 1. Liver Yang hyperactivity: The theory of Chinese medicine believes that liver is the organ of wind and wood, its body is Yin but Yang, its nature is strong, and its initiative is the main ascending. The “Inner Path” says that “all winds and dizziness belong to the liver”. People with a strong Yang constitution, people with a strong Liver and Yin deficiency, and people with a depressed or irritable personality are prone to suffer from this syndrome. The clinical manifestations of this syndrome are vertigo, tinnitus, head swelling and pain, irritability, insomnia, dreaminess, and stringiness of the pulse. If you see red eyes, bitter mouth, constipation and urinary redness, red tongue with yellow moss, and string pulse; if you see liver and kidney yin deficiency, you can see waist and knee weakness, forgetfulness, seminal emission, red tongue with little moss, and string pulse; if you see dizziness, vomiting, headache, numb limbs, unfavorable language, and unstable standing, you should pay attention to liver yang hyperactivity and wind, which is the precursor of stroke. 2.Phlegm and turbidity are embedded in the body: According to the theory of Chinese medicine, “no phlegm does not make vertigo” and “no deficiency does not make vertigo”. People who eat too much fat, sweet and thick food, people with deficiency of lung energy and people with kidney deficiency are prone to suffer from this disease. The clinical manifestations of this syndrome are dizziness, tiredness, or head weight like a haze, chest tightness or spitting of phlegm, little food and much sleep, fat tongue, white thick and moist tongue coating, slippery or string-like pulse, or a combination of pulse knotting, or a combination of subcardiac rebellious fullness, palpitation and palpitation; or head and eyes swelling and pain, heart agitation and palpitation, bitter mouth and red urine, yellow and greasy tongue coating, string-like pulse and number; or a combination of headache and tinnitus, red and irritable face, string-like pain, and string-like pulse. Rib pain with a slippery pulse. 3, qi and blood deficiency: Chinese medicine theory that the spleen and stomach is the origin of the latter, the source of qi and blood biochemical. People with acquired weakness of the spleen and stomach, people with deficient innate endowment, people with deficient yang energy in old age, and people with blood loss are prone to suffer from this evidence. The clinical manifestations of this evidence are vertigo, aggravated by movement, recurrence by exertion, fatigue and lethargy, shortage of breath and low voice, less florid face, or atrophy or scaly face, palpitations and insomnia, loss of energy and body fatigue, pale tongue, fat and tender texture, tooth marks on the side, little or thick moss, thin or weak pulse, or abdominal distension after eating, loose stools, or cold fear of cold limbs, pale white lips and nails, or all kinds of blood loss evidence. 4, kidney essence deficiency evidence: Chinese medicine theory that the brain is the sea of marrow, marrow sea surplus is light and strong, marrow sea deficiency is brain tinnitus, shin acidity, vertigo, and the excess of the brain marrow deficiency depends on the adequacy of kidney essence or not, old people with deficiency of kidney essence, people who are not disciplined in sexual intercourse, people with congenital deficiency, people who are overworked are prone to this evidence. The clinical manifestations of this type are vertigo, mental atrophy, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, seminal emission, slippery diarrhea, tinnitus, hair fall, shaking of teeth, thin or tender red tongue, little or no moss, thin or weak or fine pulse, or see headache and red cheek, dry throat, thin shape, irritable heat in the five hearts, tender red tongue, little or light moss, thin pulse, or also see pale or sallow face, cold form and cold limbs, light and tender tongue, white moss or turbid moss at the root, weak pulse and very weak ruler.
