Trigeminal neuralgia is a paroxysmal, electric shock-like, severe painful disorder occurring in the face, often triggered by washing, eating, or talking, with each attack lasting from a few seconds to a few minutes, intermittent periods being asymptomatic and less severe at night. There is no facial numbness and no impairment of limb movement. Oral “carbamazepine” is effective. The cause of the disease is still unclear, so there is no cure, the effective treatment methods are: drug therapy, closure therapy, avulsion surgery, radiofrequency surgery, craniotomy. Among them, radiofrequency thermocoagulation for trigeminal neuralgia is widely used at home and abroad because of its small trauma, good pain relief, safety, not easy to recur, wide indications, elimination of pain and preservation of most of the sense of touch, repeatable treatment, still effective for old and frail patients and patients for whom other treatments are ineffective, and does not require hospitalization.
