Is acute haemorrhagic enterocolitis serious?

Acute haemorrhagic enteritis is a fulminant disease, most patients present with acute abdominal pain accompanied by massive blood in the stool, high fever, abdominal distention, vomiting and diarrhoea, etc. A few patients may even develop toxic shock, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. Therefore, once symptoms of the disease are suspected, prompt medical attention should be sought to avoid aggravation of the condition.
