Symptoms of acute enteritis in babies

Acute enteritis in babies can present with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, body fever, and increased stool frequency. The baby’s digestive system is not particularly well developed, and once he or she does not pay attention to the diet, for example, by accumulating food, or eating rotten or spoiled food, the attack of acute enteritis can be triggered. During an attack of acute enteritis, the pressure in the intestinal cavity is high and therefore affects the emptying of food from the stomach, and many people experience nausea and vomiting. Because of the inflammation in the intestines, the smooth muscles of the intestines contract spasmodically, causing pain and rapid excretion of the intestinal contents, which can lead to diarrhea. During the onset of acute enteritis, the baby’s immune system is also affected, and many babies have fever during the illness. During the illness, the number of bowel movements increases, and in severe cases, the baby can pass stool more than a dozen times a day.
