Diet and living for IVF treatment

Egg retrieval: The entire IVF procedure is an outpatient treatment and usually involves no major discomfort. After egg retrieval, rest and observe in the hospital for 2 hours and go home to rest if there is no significant discomfort. Take care to lie still and do not do strenuous activities. Wrong opinion: You can go home immediately after egg retrieval with no discomfort! Transfer: Embryos are transferred 2-3 days later. Currently, most of them are transferred under ultrasound guidance and you need to drink water to fill up your bladder before the procedure. You can lie down for 2 hours after the transfer. Wrong opinion: the longer you sleep in the hospital after the transfer, the better! Getting up and living: Do not be strenuously active after going home, you should rest more, but absolute bed rest is not necessary. Whether the patient can go to work should be decided according to his physical condition and the nature of his work. Generally, he can have a short period of relaxing outdoor activities every day and can wash his hair and take a shower. Most of the patients will not feel anything special, but some of them may feel lower abdominal distension, nausea, stomach pain or even difficulty in breathing and coughing. Wrong opinion: Absolute bed rest is necessary for two weeks after transplantation! Diet: During the whole treatment process, protein-rich and vitamin-rich foods can be consumed without special supplements. The amount of food intake should not be seriously reduced. But do not take other drugs, if you really need to use other drugs, it is best to consult the IVF doctor first. Wrong opinion: you should take a lot of supplements after transplantation!
