Which organs are attacked by the new coronavirus pneumonia

Novel coronavirus pneumonia causes pathological changes not only in the lungs but also in the cardiovascular, liver, spleen, kidney, and brain tissues. The pathological changes in the lungs can be seen as solid lesions of varying degrees, with the solid areas showing mainly diffuse alveolar damage and exudative alveolitis, with plasma and fibrinous exudates and hyaline membrane formation in the alveolar lumen. Mucus plug formation was also seen in the small bronchi and fine bronchi. In cases with longer disease duration, mechanization of alveolar lumen exudates and interstitial fibrosis were seen. In small vessels in major parts of the body, endothelial cell detachment, endothelial or whole-layer inflammation, mixed intravascular thrombi, embolism and infarction of the corresponding parts are seen, and hyaline thrombus formation is seen in the microvessels of major organs.
