Recently, one of my patients, Lao Wang, came to me. He was referred by one of my old patients and was pushed here with a cart when he came. He had tried several kinds of ointments in the nearby hospital, but the effect was not obvious, and he had also had a lumbar CT done. Physical therapy and medication just don’t get better. Now even the waist can not straighten up, walking also struggle. It turns out that Wang has a disease called pear-shaped muscle syndrome, due to the onset of symptoms of this disease and common lumbar disc herniation is very similar to the high rate of misdiagnosis in outpatient clinics, foreign reports misdiagnosis rate of even up to 70%. This disease is not complicated, mainly due to the nerve that controls the lower extremities of the body – “sciatic nerve” in the pelvic exit place is stuck, resulting in low back pain. The muscle that is most likely to compress the sciatic nerve is called the pear-shaped muscle, and because of its deep location, it is not easy to be felt and is easily missed. Because of its deep location, conventional creams, physical therapy and other methods are not easy to penetrate it, and conventional treatment methods often do not improve. Of course, as long as the disease is properly understood, there are still ways to treat it. Local closure treatment is a very good way. The special needle will be punctured into the surface of the pear-shaped muscle, the prepared neurotrophic solution will be injected, through the liquid expansion, to achieve the release of nerve and muscle adhesions, at the same time, the injected neurotrophic solution to promote the repair of damaged nerves, anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs to make edema pear-shaped muscle swelling, so as to achieve the effect of treatment. Generally speaking, after one or two treatments, the problem can be solved. After two “closed” treatments in the outpatient clinic, together with rehabilitation training, Wang regained his former vitality.
