[Abstract] Objective To investigate the value and surgical technique of anastomotic suprahemorrhoidal mucosal loop hemorrhoidectomy (PPH) for the treatment of severe hemorrhoids. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with severe hemorrhoids were treated by PPH method, and the surgical results were analyzed to summarize the surgical experience. Results The operation time ranged from 8 to 25 minutes, with an average of 13 minutes. 28 cases (23.3%) required suture ligation to stop bleeding at the anastomosis when the anastomosis was withdrawn. Postoperative pain was felt in 36 cases (30%). The patients were able to get out of bed 2 days after surgery and were discharged from the hospital after 1 to 4 days of observation. After the anastomosis was withdrawn during the operation, most of the patients’ prolapsed internal hemorrhoids, mucous membrane and skin flaps immediately retracted into the anal canal, and the hemorrhoid mass basically shrank completely in 2 to 14 days. None of the patients in the whole group had fecal incontinence, anal stricture, infection or perianal abscess formation. No recurrence or other adverse phenomena occurred during the follow-up period of 1 month to 2 years. It is concluded that PPH method for the treatment of severe hemorrhoids has the advantages of safety, effectiveness, short operation time, less hospitalization time and quick recovery.
