Do dental implants hurt?

Many patients have the misconception that dental implants are painful because of the metal roots that have to be planted into the jawbone. I often explain to my patients that if they can tolerate it when they have a tooth extracted, then dental implants will definitely be done. In fact, the anesthetic used in oral treatment nowadays is so effective that you can’t feel any pain at all, only a numb feeling. Dental implants are an outpatient procedure, unless a large amount of bone grafting needs to go into a large operating room, usually, they can be done on an outpatient basis, and the time is fast, half an hour is enough for one dental implant.
