Fasting blood sugar 6.4 two hours after meal blood sugar 9.7, is it diabetes?

Fasting blood glucose 6.4 two-hour postprandial blood glucose 9.7 is not yet diagnostic of diabetes, consider pre-diabetes. Prediabetes and diabetes are different stages of the same disease. Fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L, or 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, or random blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, accompanied by three more and one less symptom (more drinking, eating, urinating, and weight loss), can be diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Fasting blood glucose greater than 6.1 but less than 7.0 mmol/L and 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose less than 7.8 mmol/L are considered impaired fasting blood glucose; fasting blood glucose less than 7.0 mmol/L and 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose greater than 7.8 but less than 11.1 mmol/L are considered impaired glucose tolerance. It is recommended to control diet and increase exercise in pre-diabetes, as well as to actively seek medical advice and treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
