Is a lump on the right side of the neck a sign of cancer?

Bumps on the right side of the neck are not necessarily a sign of cancer. There are many causes of these symptoms and a definite diagnosis should be made after relevant tests. Bumps on the right side of the neck can be caused by various conditions, such as goiter, which is mainly manifested as a swelling or lump in front of the neck with pain. If it is accompanied by discomfort in the front of the neck or even a feeling of pressure, it is most often seen as a nodular goiter or thyroid adenoma. In addition, some patients have malignant tumors of the thyroid gland that are painful, and the mass gradually increases in size over a short period of time, leading to invasion of the recurrent laryngeal nerve and hoarseness of speech. There are also a small number of patients who develop lymph node metastasis in the neck due to malignant tumors of distant organs, which manifests as a lump in the neck and can be confirmed by biopsy. In conclusion, patients with lumps on the right side of the neck should not be overly worried, and can consult the general surgery department of the hospital for detailed examination before deciding on the appropriate treatment.
