How long is the recovery period for sudden deafness

Sudden deafness causes varying degrees of hearing loss. A small number of patients may recover spontaneously, while most patients need medication to restore their hearing for a period of about three months. Sudden deafness is a sudden onset of sensorineural hearing loss of unknown origin. The main symptom is hearing loss, which is usually accompanied by vertigo, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, and a feeling of ear blockage. Currently, the treatment of sudden deafness is mostly a combination of treatments with an efficiency of 70%. Treatment involves giving the patient circulatory improvement, glucocorticoids and neurotrophic drugs. In addition, severe hearing loss with vertigo is a poor prognostic factor and patients should be treated early to avoid compromising their prognosis. Treatment within 7-10 days after the onset of the disease is usually recommended to facilitate disease recovery. Patients are advised to develop good ear habits on a daily basis, avoid long-term exposure to strong noise environments, and not to overuse their ears.
