Stem cell therapy for diabetes is currently under study and not recommended by guidelines. The mesenchymal stem cell currently being studied is the most attractive stem cell type for the treatment of diabetes. It can differentiate into islet-like and functional insulin-producing cells, induce regeneration of endogenous pancreatic β-cells, and protect these cells. Currently, stem cell therapy has achieved a series of results in the treatment of diabetes, and there are at least four new clinical filings of diabetes-related stem cell research programs in China, two of which are related to the diabetic foot. There are also related stem cell therapy for diabetes research results published in foreign countries. However, stem cell therapy for diabetes is only in the research stage and has not yet entered the clinical promotion stage, nor has it been recommended in the guidelines. Therefore, if you suffer from diabetes, you still need to follow the doctor’s advice, these new methods, we can wait and see, but do not blindly try.
