Eye care, scientific use of iPAD, computers and other electronic products

In recent years, the use and popularity of iPAD and other tablet computers have changed people’s learning and lifestyle. Many parents use computers or related products to teach children early and tutor homework, teachers are increasingly using computer teaching aids to teach, children prefer to play games and watch cartoons on computers, and we can often see young people holding iPADs and iPhones in the subway. …… However, when they enjoy the convenience and happiness brought by the development of computer technology, there are many potential dangers that unknowingly endanger their eye health. Long-term use of iPADs and other electronic products can easily induce dry eye. When we look at something, the eyelids are blinking regularly, like the wipers of a car, uninterruptedly coating the black and white eye surfaces (cornea and conjunctiva) with tears evenly, acting as a lubricant and brushing away metabolic waste or foreign dust, etc. from the surface to protect the eyes. The normal number of eyelid blinks is 15 to 20 times per minute, but when looking at a computer, especially when playing games with a high degree of concentration, the number of blinks is greatly reduced. Some observations show that the number of blinks can be reduced to 2~3 times when playing games. The result of reduced blinking is excessive evaporation of tears and lack of moistening of the eye surface, which over time leads to dryness of the eye surface, itchy eyes, burning foreign body sensation, blurred vision, decreased vision, eye swelling, orbital pain, and other symptoms. These conditions are medically referred to as the eye manifestations of visual screen terminal syndrome viewing various electronic screens, such as television screens, game consoles, monitors, etc. can be induced. Reducing the use of computers and developing the habit of using them properly is the key to treating terminal syndrome. Long-term use of electronic products such as iPADs is also likely to induce myopia and visual fatigue. Children are in the growth and development period, and the ciliary muscle, the muscle responsible for regulating the eyes to see far and near, is strong. When looking too close, especially when using computers and related products for a long time, vision fatigue will occur. Among computer products, tablet computers are brighter and more colorful than ordinary computers, so they are more prone to visual fatigue. The ciliary muscle of the eye is overly contracted, medically known as ciliary muscle spasm, and pseudomyopia appears, which may recover if rested in time, while a long time will evolve into true myopia. Therefore, we all need to learn to use iPAD, computers and other electronic products scientifically. 1, display screen should be slightly lower than the eyes. TV sets and game consoles at home should be placed according to the child’s height and seat. 2, the screen is 60 ~ 80 cm from the eyes. Children with tablet computers, often held in the hands of the game, generally close to see the computer screen, parents must help control the distance children look at the screen. The brightness of the monitor should not be too bright, adjust to half of the maximum brightness on it, to see the content clearly but slightly darker than the surrounding objects is appropriate. 3. Learn to blink consciously. Every half hour you should take a break and look away or do eye exercises. It is impossible for children to take into account eye hygiene when playing games or watching TV, so parents should pay attention to remind them and limit their children’s eye time appropriately.
