Don’t let the wine corrupt the femur

Since becoming the director, Li Kejian’s wine scene has become more. The unit of small and large relations, have to entertain. The higher leadership to guide the work, to let the leaders drink to drink happy; to the following, the lower levels will certainly accompany him to drink a drunkenness. The director of the department for more than two years, all kinds of relations have been quite cordial, up and down also praised him. Li Kejian’s drinking capacity and stomach is also getting bigger and bigger, so it can be said that the spring is happy. Three months ago, Li Kejian began to feel vague pain in both hips, taking painkillers did not work well, but after drinking, he would feel pain significantly reduced, and he could not leave the wine. Soon after, the unit organized a physical examination, and the doctor looked at Li Kejian’s hip x-ray and told him that his bilateral femoral head was already in the second stage of necrosis. Not only that, he was also found to have high blood viscosity and high blood lipids. Li Kejian did not understand how he could get osteonecrosis of the femoral head when he had not suffered any trauma and had not taken any hormones. The doctor told him that the culprit of his osteonecrosis was alcohol consumption. There are several misconceptions about alcoholic osteonecrosis: (a) Only fat people have fatty liver and high blood lipids and are susceptible to osteonecrosis, but thin people don’t need to worry. Alcoholic osteonecrosis of the femur is not caused by fatty liver and hyperlipidemia alone, but microangiitis plays an important role in the development of osteonecrosis of the femur. Fatty liver and hyperlipidemia are not exclusive to fat people either. Many long-term alcohol drinkers, despite being thin, also have very severe fatty liver and hyperlipidemia during clinical investigations. The main cause of fatty liver and hyperlipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism, not because of the amount of fat consumed. Therefore, thin people can also suffer from femoral head necrosis as a result. (2) Drinking white wine is likely to cause osteonecrosis, beer is not related; drinking more than one drink is likely to cause femoral head necrosis, drinking less is not related. Because everyone’s tolerance level to alcohol is different, some people can drink a pound of liquor, while some people two cups of beer will put down. For people who are shallow drinkers, drinking a few glasses of beer is equivalent to someone drinking a pound of liquor. And people have different susceptibility to alcohol, there are also people who drink for a lifetime without problems; some people drink for less than six months and get osteonecrosis. Most patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head, only only one to two years of alcoholism history, counting not too long. (c) Herbal wine can cure the disease, and can be used to treat osteonecrosis of the femoral head. Because the traditional Chinese medicine saying is “wine is the first of all medicines”, Chinese people have the habit of using medicinal wine to treat arthritis and rheumatism. In addition, due to the temporary dilating effect of alcohol on blood vessels, alcoholic osteonecrosis of the femoral head is often relieved by pain after drinking alcohol. Some patients are superstitious about medicinal wine, but they do not know that medicinal wine can do more harm than good to osteonecrosis, and the more you drink, the more serious the disease becomes. Alcoholic osteonecrosis of the femoral head treatment Alcoholic osteonecrosis of the femoral head in the treatment of the same as hormonal osteonecrosis, generally is a phase I, phase II can be conservative treatment. Stage III and IV should be treated either with medication or with surgery for intramedullary decompression, implantation of a vascularized musculoskeletal flap or artificial prosthesis replacement, depending on the patient’s condition, age and requirements. It should be noted that the treatment of osteonecrosis should be accompanied by systematic medical treatment according to liver function and blood rheology. In addition, in addition to absolute abstinence from alcohol, hormones should be used with caution in this disease. Some people have other diseases that require hormone therapy besides osteonecrosis of the femoral head, and others use hormones incorrectly because of misdiagnosis. We have observed that once patients with alcoholic osteonecrosis of the femoral head are combined with hormone use, the osteonecrosis is often extensive, progresses rapidly, and is very difficult to control. In the end, the femoral head is often severely deformed and has to be replaced by an artificial joint. If you need to use hormones for unavoidable reasons, be sure to explain your condition to your doctor to minimize the effect of hormones on femoral head necrosis. China is a country with a long history of alcohol culture, and drinking alcohol is not only a pastime, but sometimes a necessity. Those who have been drinking for a long time and in large quantities should go to the hospital to have their hip examined if they experience soreness and discomfort in the hip area, pain confined to the groin area, and pain relieved after drinking. As long as it can be detected early, the treatment effect of alcoholic femoral head necrosis is still relatively satisfactory.
