Brennemann’s syndrome often occurs during or after recovery from an upper respiratory infection such as a cold or flu, but can also occur after inflammation of the intestinal tract, and may first present with symptoms of an upper respiratory infection such as a low-grade fever and sore throat, followed by abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea.
