What should I do about retinal detachment caused by myopia?

Retinal detachment is the separation of the neuroepithelial layer of the retina from the pigment epithelium. There is a potential gap between the two layers, and the fluid trapped in the gap after separation is called subretinal fluid. The detached portion of the retina is unable to perceive light stimuli, resulting in incomplete or total loss of images from the eye. Myopia is only one of the causes of retinal detachment. 1. What are the causes of myopia-induced retinal detachment? Retinal detachment is the most common complication of myopia. Due to the elongation of myopic eye axis and intraocular nutritional disorders, cystic degeneration and lattice degeneration often occur in the peripheral part of the retina, and the retina in the degeneration area is very thin and easily perforated, and some of them have been perforated to form Über-cleft, coupled with vitreous liquefaction and increased mobility, pulling the retina to detach. 2.How to do retinal detachment surgery caused by myopia? Vitrectomy combined with silicone oil (or gas) filling surgery. If there is a subretinal membrane affecting the retinal reset, retinotomy should be performed to remove the subretinal membrane. If there is retinal detachment, vitreous gas/liquid exchange or heavy water filling can be performed to drain the subretinal fluid; intraocular retinal laser photocoagulation can be performed depending on the condition; vitreous filling with expansion gas or silicone oil can be performed depending on the condition; the perfusion head can be removed and the scleral and bulbar conjunctival incisions can be sutured in turn. 3.What are the precautions after surgery for myopia-induced retinal detachment? Myopia is one of the causes of retinal detachment. Regardless of the cause, patients who have undergone retinal detachment surgery should pay attention to the following items after surgery: (1) Vitrectomy patients should follow the doctor’s instructions for two weeks after surgery, and the head should be in the prone position, and according to the surgical plan, there can be prone position, prone position and side position, all of which will be guided by doctors and nurses in detail. (2) If you have vomiting, headache, eye pain and other discomfort on the day of surgery, tell the doctor and nurse in time to take effective measures. (3) Diet should be soft and easy to digest. Avoid stimulating foods such as alcohol and tobacco. (4) Rest for 1-3 months after discharge from the hospital, not to engage in strenuous exercise and physical labor. One week after discharge from the hospital, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to review one and three months, half-yearly review. 4.What are the symptoms of retinal detachment caused by myopia? When a partial detachment of retina occurs, the patient will see a fixed cloud-like shadow in the visual field on the opposite side of the detachment. If a macular detachment occurs, there is a large and dramatic loss of central vision. Detachment is often preceded by aura symptoms, with flashes of light during eye movements. Due to vitreous clouding, there are often dark shadows floating in the visual field. If the retina is completely detached, vision is reduced to light perception or completely lost. The loss of vision is also often preceded by visual distortion and a sensation of object tremor during eye movements.
