Precautions to be taken after circumcision

1.Pre-operative skin preparation. Take a bath the day before the surgery and wash the penis and surrounding skin. Remove as much dirt as possible from the foreskin. Skin preparation and shaving of pubic hair should be performed before surgery. Disinfect the skin of the surgical field carefully during the operation. If the patient is circumcised, the coronary sulcus should be disinfected again after exposure to remove the accumulated prepuce to reduce the occurrence of postoperative infection. 2. General post-operative care. Try to reduce the activities within 1-2 days after surgery to reduce the pain caused by friction and oozing at the incision. Do not exercise strenuously (such as running, jumping, cycling, etc.) within one week after surgery to prevent the incision from cracking and affecting healing. Wear loose underwear after surgery to minimize the friction on the incision to facilitate the healing of the incision. 3. Postoperative infection prevention. After surgery, take oral antibiotics sensitive to Gram-positive bacteria for 3 to 5 d (such as cephalosporin antibiotics), and apply erythromycin ointment at the incision to prevent incision infection. If the incision has more local exudate, use 3% boric acid solution to disinfect the exudate site, then apply erythromycin ointment. 4, postoperative suppression of penile erection. Frequent penile erection after surgery can lead to pain at the incision and affect the healing of the incision, and in serious cases, it can lead to the loosening of the suture and subsequent bleeding. Therefore, it is necessary to effectively inhibit penile erection after surgery. For adult men who are sexually active, they are advised to reduce exposure to sexually stimulating reading materials and films for one month after surgery. Estradiol benzoate (Tegretol) can be given orally for one week after surgery to suppress penile erection. If the patient does not want to take oral estrogen, a small amount of anthralin can be applied to the glans or the glans can be submerged in cold water to inhibit erection when there is an erection. Tell the patient to wait for the incision wound to heal completely before sexual life, premature sexual life will affect the healing of the incision and seriously cause the incision to crack or complicate bleeding. 5. Postoperative diet. After surgery, you need a light diet to reduce the stimulation of urine on the urethral orifice. Eating a high protein, high fiber diet is beneficial to wound repair. Encourage drinking more water to ensure smooth urination and prevent the occurrence of retrograde infection.
