How to reduce the fever of gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis is most often seen in summer and fall with a clear history of unclean diet. Patients often have fever, diarrhea (watery stools), nausea, vomiting, bloating, and abdominal pain, often due to enteroviral infections such as rotavirus or bacterial infections such as dysentery bacilli. If the temperature exceeds 38.5℃, you can take oral antipyretics such as acetaminophen tablets or ibuprofen extended-release capsules. If the fever is only low, it can be treated with plenty of hydration or physical cooling. Bacterial infectious gastroenteritis often has fever, abdominal pain, pus and blood stools, anti-inflammatory treatment with antibiotics, such as norfloxacin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, etc., the fever will be relieved after the infection is controlled. Chinese medicine is very effective in relieving gastrointestinal colds, such as the familiar Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid, which can relieve wind and cold externally and remove dampness and stagnation internally. If the patient has more diarrhea and is dehydrated, timely rehydration is required. Oral rehydration salts can be chosen for mild to moderate dehydration, and if severe dehydration such as hypotension occurs, large amounts of intravenous rehydration are required. The fever of gastroenteritis can be reduced with antipyretic drugs. The first thing you need to do is not to eat cold drinks or leftovers, and fruits and vegetables need to be washed to keep your hands clean and hygienic so that you don’t get sick from the mouth. In summer, when the air conditioning is on, pay attention to avoid the abdomen from getting cold.
