How long does it take to get the results of bronchoscopy

For routine bronchoscopy, the results are available on the spot. In case of combined pathological examination, it takes about 5-7 days; in case of bacterial culture, the results can be obtained in about 7-10 days, depending on the type of bacteria. Bronchoscopy is an auxiliary examination instrument commonly used in clinical respiratory and cardiothoracic departments. With the continuous development of clinical technology, both examination and treatment are integrated, providing convenience for clinical diagnosis. Bronchoscopy allows direct access to the site of the lesion and obtains sputum and tissue for examination. Alveolar lavage under bronchoscopy can be used in the direction of tumors and inflammation, and alveolar lavage fluid can also be used for bacterial culture to obtain sensitive bacteria. If abnormal masses and nodules are found, biopsies can be obtained using fiberoptic bronchoscopy and sent to the pathology department for testing. Patients who experience discomfort are advised to visit the hospital’s respiratory department promptly, and the doctor will determine if bronchoscopy is needed based on the situation. Patients do not need to be nervous when doing the examination, they just need to cooperate with the doctor’s operation.
