Can vaccinations cause type 1 diabetes?

There are no studies showing that vaccinations cause type 1 diabetes, and vaccinations generally do not cause type 1 diabetes. There are many causes of type 1 diabetes, including autoimmunity, genetics, infection, etc. Autoantibodies such as glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies are often present in patients with type 1 diabetes, which destroy pancreatic β-cells and lead to impaired pancreatic β-cells; genetics also play a major role in type 1 diabetes; and viruses and other infections can damage β-cells. These are not directly related to the vaccine. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, and diarrhea may occur after the vaccine and do not usually lead to diabetes. Some people find high blood sugar after vaccination, it is likely that the blood sugar itself was high before, but just did not notice, or diabetes happened to occur after vaccination, and is not directly related to vaccination. Adverse reactions to vaccination are recommended to seek medical attention.
