The most common cause of red eyes in babies is bacterial conjunctivitis, mostly accompanied by yellow discharge, blinking and other discomfort, which requires prompt treatment with antibiotic eye drops and ointment. It can also be caused by allergies, rubbing of the eyeball by the inverted eyelashes or rubbing or touching with the hands.
