Can breast milk transmit HIV?

Breast milk can transmit HIV. It has been confirmed that HIV is present in the blood, vaginal secretions, semen, cerebrospinal fluid, chest and abdominal fluids, amniotic fluid, and breast milk of the infectious agent, so if a pregnant woman is HIV positive, she can transmit HIV to her fetus or baby through different routes. During pregnancy, the fetus can be infected with HIV through different routes of contact with the mother’s blood. At the time of delivery, the baby can be infected by direct contact through the birth canal in an unprotected manner because of the high levels of HIV in the mother’s cervix and vaginal secretions. HIV can also be transmitted to the baby through breastfeeding after delivery.
