Are there any drugs available to cure AIDS?

There is no drug that completely cures AIDS. The primary treatment for AIDS is antiretroviral therapy. With regular, proper antiretroviral treatment the HIV is suppressed and the progression of the disease is arrested. What are the main methods of treating AIDS: psychotherapy, symptomatic support therapy, nutritional therapy, treatment and prevention of opportunistic infections, immunotherapy, and most importantly, antiretroviral therapy. Depending on the cycle of HIV replication, different drugs can be chosen to inhibit the replication of AIDS. The drugs now used clinically to treat HIV infection are: nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, protease inhibitors and integrase inhibitors. AIDS is a chronic disease and anti-HIV medications do not work immediately, some take weeks or even months to work. During the course of medication, CD4, T-lymphocytes and viral load should be monitored to determine the effectiveness of treatment.
