The need for treatment and the type of treatment required needs to be decided based on the patient’s symptoms, uterine development and fertility aspirations. For some patients with a poorly developed uterus that has no therapeutic value and is asymptomatic, no treatment may be required.
Surgery is required for patients who present with cyclical abdominal pain, accumulation of blood in the uterine cavity and vaginal abnormalities; for a relatively well-developed uterus, hormonal therapy may be used to promote uterine development.
